![]() Join my family as we seek to be armed with the sword, the mighty word of God. Remember when Jesus was tempted by Satan? He used words from the scriptures as a weapon - the words are the sword. He prefaced the verses He quoted with "It is written...." We can and must fight the same way, but only if we are armed with the ammunition needed for a particular event or circumstance. This is why it is so important that we learn the scriptures and carry them in our hearts. We are learning one new verse each week, as well as identifying who said it, who it was spoken to, and what it means. Every Sunday we write our chosen verse on an index card. On one side is the King James Version, on the back is our favorite newer translation.
This week's verse is... which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 Obviously this verse doesn't need much explanation. This was written by Paul to the believers in Philippi, hence the name ~ Epistle to the Philippians ~. I've often wondered why the word "which" was used instead of the pronoun "who." Perhaps the "who" is a given, and the knowledge that Christ will strengthen us to do all things is the thing (or the which) that strengthens us. Either way, the meaning is pretty much the same. We, as believers have access to the authority of God as long as we stay in His will, therefore we have the strength appropriated to us that enables us to do literally anything! MEMORIZE this verse! |

by Rev. John Newton, GOD SPEAKINGThe man whispered, "God, speak to me,"And a meadowlark sang. But the man did not hear.
So the man yelled,
"God, speak to me," But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, But the man did not see.
And the man shouted,
"God, show me a miracle," But the man did not notice.
So the man cried out in despair, Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away Don't overlook a blessing! |

and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV) Matthew 6:33 |

God has a different plan and purpose for each of us. Finding that plan and purpose is sometimes a life long journey. But all we really need to do is study His word daily, pray without ceasing, tithe our 10%, and offer sacrificial offerings (above the standard tithe) whenever we are able. As we commit to doing His will by obeying His instructions, He will reveal His good and perfect will to us, and will handle all of our needs, wants, and desires. |
