As I was browsing through my fellow Entrecard blogs, I came across an incident at Eyebald’s blog that really struck me.
It is no secret that people of faith are having a more difficult time these days, living through insults and the lack of respect for our beliefs. It seems that anyone who believes in God is fair game for money mongers, comic strips and injustice.
Obama visited the wailing wall in Jerusalem and following tradition, he penned a prayer, folded it and stuffed it between the stones. These prayers are not to be read by others. It’s a tradition based on honor, but honor is hard to find these days.
According to Time.com:
… an orthodox seminary student went to the Wall, fished out Obama’s personal note and delivered it to Maariv newspaper, which duly printed the senator’s prayer.
Obama has not commented publicly about the stolen prayer and the invasion of his privacy. A photo of the prayer has been published.
“Lord, protect my family and me,” Obama wrote. “Forgive me my sins and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will.”
